Bowland Brewery has picked up two prizes in the SIBA North West Independent Beer Awards, for Buster IPA and Dragonglass.

Buster IPA took a bronze award in the premium cask IPA class, while dark and complex Dragonglass took gold in the cask strong beer class.

One of a number of limited edition brews the Clitheroe-based brewery produces, Dragonglass comes in at a hefty 7.4% ABV. The judges were impressed with the smoothness and complexity of the powerful dark ale.

Along with the rest of the gold award winners, Dragonglass will now go forward to the National SIBA Awards, which will be judged in March.

Andrew Warburton, director at Bowland Brewery, said: “These awards are a tribute to the skill and commitment of our brewing team. Tried and tested traditional brewing techniques underpin our core range of premium cask ales, but we aren’t afraid to embrace more modern methods to produce very different styles of beer.

“It’s wonderful to receive recognition for products from both our core range and our expanding portfolio of seasonal and special ales.”
