Sharp’s Brewery has announced sponsorship of Wadebridge Camels RFC and St Austell RFC for the 2018/2019 season through its Doom Bar brand.

The brewery is a proud supporter of grassroots rugby in Cornwall and has sponsored the Camels for over a decade and St Austell since 2014.

As part of this sponsorship package, Sharp’s provides both teams with Doom Bar branded rugby post protectors, flags, water bottles, pitch branding, PR support and man of the match Doom Bars t-shirts.

James Nicholls, senior brand manager at Sharp’s Brewery, said: “We are delighted to support local rugby across Cornwall and are very proud to sponsor both the Wadebridge Camels and St Austell clubs.

“In addition, we also sponsor a number of other Cornish rugby clubs, and in 2017 sponsored the British and Irish Lions Tour, which was a perfect partnership with our flagship beer, Doom Bar.”

Sharp’s is so committed to its support of rugby that it even has its own rugby team. The Sharp’s Doom Platoon team was created when the brewery and rugby legend Phil Vickery embarked on a rugby adventure together.

They selected 40 players from a consumer competition to win a training weekend at Watergate Bay, from which the successful players were selected to make up the Doom Platoon.
