Sharp's Fathoms Deep

Sharp’s Brewery has announced the launch of a new black IPA, Fathoms Deep (4.5% ABV), the latest addition to the brewer’s limited release series for the Blue Flag initiative.

Brewed in Rock, the new beer is now available across on-trade outlets until October 31. Fathoms Deep is a dark black IPA with a light roasted character. Brewed with New Zealand hops, it has a vibrant fruity hop aroma with hints of citrus, lime and apricot which balance out and accompany the dark malt base.

The beer can be enjoyed on its own, or the brewer suggests pairing it with barbecued meats, steak and mature cheeses.

Sharp’s Brewery supports the Blue Flag initiative with its limited release beers, and five pence from every pint of Fathoms Deep sold will be donated to the charity, which works to keep Cornish beaches safe and clean.

Over the past two years, Sharp’s has donated £28,000 to Blue Flag, with the donations funding applications for all the Blue Flag and Seaside Awards in Cornwall.

James Nicholls, senior brand manager at Sharp’s Brewery, said: “The Blue Flag initiative is a cause so close to our hearts here on the North Cornish coast so we’re thrilled to be able to continue supporting the charity with our limited release brews.

“Each one of our limited release series is carefully brewed by our team at Rock to bring something new to drinkers. As we head into autumn and the nights get longer, Fathoms Deep is the ideal choice for people looking to try a new style of beer.

“The dark colour of the IPA may be deceiving — this brew has a vibrant aroma and fruity flavours which provide a contrast to the deep dark malts. We hope people enjoy our new IPA!”
