Sharp’s Brewery brought the Cornish spirit and the ultimate beach bar to the East End of London, serving up a selection of brews to an international crowd of beer lovers at London Beer Week.

For the second year running, Sharp’s Brewery was a headline partner at the week-long event, a festival that attracted more than 1,800 people to its Beach Bar. New brews, old favourites and exclusive events were all on offer.

Sharp’s also offered festival-goers a host of beer and food experiences over the course of the week, from the London Beer Week Hub, situated in the Old Truman Brewery. Sharp’s head brewer, Andrew Madden, brought Mizzen, a new brew, to the event. This beer was created by last year’s There’s an Adventure Brewing winner, Dylan Jones, at Sharp’s headquarters in Rock, Cornwall.

Following on from a successful launch last year, Sharp’s Brewery has brought back the Adventure Brewing campaign, giving people a range of ‘money can’t buy’ experiences with Sharp’s ambassadors during 2016.

Phil VickeryAttending the event to launch this year’s campaign were rugby legend, Phil Vickery (pictured), and big wave surfer, Andrew Cotton.  This year’s opportunities include the option for six rugby fans and guests to attend an autumnal rugby match, plus all the trimmings, with Phil at Twickenham. Six people will also have the chance to embark on a big wave surfing adventure with Andrew somewhere in a world renowned big wave spot, and also the opportunity to enjoy a tasty Cornish food adventure with Michelin starred chef Nathan Outlaw.

Phil spent an evening in Sharp’s London Beach Bar, enjoying his favourite Doom Bar beer with the Sharp’s team and beer fans.  He said: “This year we are launching a fantastic rugby adventure that will see me take 12 rugby fans to Twickenham on a rugby adventure of a lifetime. I’ll take them behind the scenes, where I can share with them some of my most memorable personal and professional moments.”

Andrew flew straight in from big wave action on the west coast of Ireland. He said: “When the swell hits this autumn, the six winners and their guests will be ready to help me prepare for, search for and surf the biggest waves around. They will be certain to experience an extraordinary surfing adventure and see it all through my eyes.”

Festival-goers who were lucky enough to be in right place at the right time enjoyed exclusive tasting sessions throughout the week with Sharp’s expert beer sommeliers in the Secret Bar — a special experience designed to revolutionise the way attendees taste and enjoy beer. And those willing to share their sins with a full and frank confession at the Sharp’s Beer Confessional were rewarded with a free Sharp’s beer.

Sharp’s also collaborated with the talented team from London’s Worship Street Whistling Shop cocktail bar. They formed a take-over of the Sharp’s Cornish Beach Bar, working their magic, mixing up a signature ‘hop-tail’ exclusively for festival goers.

Nick White, events manager at Sharp’s Brewery, said: We created our ultimate beach bar in the heart of London on the site of an old brewery, and were blown away by the response to our beers, the food matches, the bar and all the experiences we created to go with it. We staffed it with our amazing brewery team with a few of our favourite chefs thrown in for good measure — what a week.
