Sharp’s Brewery has relaunched one of its limited release beers, Point Break, with 5p from every pint donated to the Blue Flag charity to help protect beaches in Cornwall.

Point Break (4.6% ABV) was available as a limited edition brew for two months last year and proved highly popular with Sharp’s customers, with more than £16,000 raised for Blue Flag awards from sales of the limited releases overall in 2015.

Last year Sharp’s helped to support five Cornish beaches and in 2016 even more Blue Flags are now flying over Cornwall’s golden shores.

Sharp's Point BreakThe beer recipe was developed by Sharp’s technical brewer, Aaron McClure, inspired by his love of blonde beers and surfing point break reefs near his home in Newquay. Smooth and sweet on the palate, Point Break has a refreshing and moreish finish. The aroma is fresh and clean with hints of herbal hops and sweet citrus fruit.

Sharp’s is passionate about the coast and has recently launched a Big Wave Adventure with Andrew Cotton. For those hanging out for some surf, Sharp’s Brewery is offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join big wave rider Andrew on his next surf adventure, as he bids to conquer the world’s biggest waves. The two-night, all expenses-paid trip will put one lucky winner, plus their chosen guest, at the heart of the adventure and offer a first-hand look into the life of a fearless big wave surfer. To find out more, visit www.sharpsbrewery.co.uk/competition/big-wave-surfing-adventure

James Nicholls, senior brand manager at Sharp’s, said: “Our brewing team is committed to experimenting with exciting flavours and beer styles on our new pilot plant at Rock, where we are creating even more incredible cask beers to delight our customers.

“Through sales of our limited releases in 2015, we raised over £16,000 for the Blue Flag and we are delighted to continue to support this important initiative again this year. Blue Flag awards are an excellent way to assure the public that they are enjoying great quality standards at our beaches and, in so doing, support coastal communities and the local economy.”
