Inspired by the rugged Cornish Coast surrounding its home in Rock, Sharp’s Brewery has launched a new brew, Seven Souls, named after a craggy outcrop on the ancient Cornish Rumps headland found between New Polzeath and Port Isaac. Seven Souls is a full, dark ale, brewed using speciality malts.

The rock is named in honour of the seven souls who perished there one dark and stormy night and is the inspiration for the new 5.4% ale.

With a deep aroma of dark chocolate, liquorice with raisin and spicy undertones, a taste of spicy bitterness, rounded malt sweetness, with hints of coffee, it is designed for dark, winter evenings.

James Nicholls, senior brand manager at Sharp’s Brewery, said: “With the colder weather now upon us, drinkers are looking for fuller flavours, and Seven Souls provides this in spades. We’re really proud of our new beer, Seven Souls, and think this is the ideal beer to enjoy with friends in the dark, winter evenings.”

Ed Hughes, beer sommelier at Sharp’s, added: “Seven Souls is a lovely dark ale with coffee and chocolate notes, a perfect bitter-sweet balance and a wonderful dry finish. I’d recommend pairing this brew with a rich cut of red meat, oysters or dark chocolate.”

Seven Souls is available in bottle from the Sharp’s Brewery shop in Rock, online at sharpsbrewery.co.uk as well as in Morrisons stores.
