Real Ale, the ‘liquid delicatessen’ based in Twickenham, will be opening a new store in the heart of North West London this summer.

The award-winning shop has established a reputation for offering a wide range of high-quality but often unknown craft beers, ciders and perries, produced by smaller breweries in Britain and internationally, since it first opened its doors in 2005, as well as over 350 wines from artisan producers.

Real Ale Little VeniceThe aim from day one was to bring unusual and interesting beers from microbreweries under one roof;, offering consumers more variety and small brewers a market place for their beers.

Plans are already in place to support local breweries at the new venue — 4 Formosa Street, Little Venice W9 — including a small batch pale ale brewed in collaboration with Moncada Brewery.

Darren Ferris, sales manager at Moncada, said: “It’s a great opportunity to work with the team at Real Ale who are such excellent advocates for smaller breweries, always giving them a platform.

“Now the Real Ale team are our new neighbours, we are delighted to collaborate in brewing a special Formosa Pale Ale, to celebrate the launch of the new store.”

Store Manager, Tim Peyton, added: “Real Ale, Little Venice, is a perfect fit for us due to its close-knit community, large residential population and its proximity to the Bakerloo line.

“There are many similarities with this location and our existing East Twickenham store. We believe we will thrive here, as we are offering something completely different which will be good for both locals and those making the ‘pilgrimage’.

Masterclass tastings

“We will have an on-licence which means we can offer customers the chance to sample our bottled beers or sample beers from any of our eight draught keg lines, or to simply watch the world go by with a glass of wine in-store.

“The new venue also includes a seated basement area, ideal for masterclass tastings and meet the brewer events. We will be spoilt for choice in range selection as, over the past couple of years, over 60 craft breweries have opened up in London alone. We really look forward to becoming as much a part of the community as we are in Twickenham.”

Since 2007 the company has been an official beer supplier agent to M&S, helping it source a range of branded and own-label ales from regional brewers nationally, and has been instrumental in introducing the retailers’ new canned range.

To celebrate the launch of the new shop, Real Ale has launched a new-look website where browsers can select from a huge range of hand-picked beers, delivered free within the local area and nationally via courier.  Shoppers can order cases from the team’s recommendations, or select their own range of beers, all of which are hard to find elsewhere.
