Old Hooky will be the star attraction when Hook Norton Brewery holds its next open tap takeover on Wednesday, May 10 (6-9pm).

Old Hooky 2017The brewery will be celebrating 40 years since the 4.6% ABV bitter was first brewed. Fruity and full bodied, this beer is a consistent cornerstone of the core range.

There will be free samples of the brew available, along with a variety of Old Hooky themed nibbles, including Old Hooky Cheese, sausages and pies.

Hook Norton managing director, James Clarke, said: “Old Hooky [was] originally to be called Old Bill after my grandfather, but due to another brewery, who shall remain nameless, already having a beer of that name, we did the honourable thing and renamed it Old Hooky.

“It has been at the cornerstone of our core range ever since and is a beer we are very proud off, consistently winning awards and compliments. I’d recommend it best enjoyed with a slow roasted lamb, maybe a game pie, but certainly with friends.”

Lining up alongside Hook Norton will be craft beer 168 (6.8%), brewed in the pilot plant. This experimental ale was created to celebrate 168 years of brewing at Hook Norton and will be on sale during May.
