Guests out for post-work beers at a Manchester pub were treated to an exclusive performance by members of Ocean Colour Scene.

Simon Fowler and Oscar Harrison from the Birmingham-based band took to the stage for an intimate gig at the Kings Ransom on Britannia Road, Sale, as part of Radio X’s live broadcast from the pub.

The performance, which included some of the band’s top hits, such as The Day We Caught The Train and Robin Hood, was hosted by Radio X’s Johnny Vaughan after the broadcast of his show from the Greene King pub.

General manager of the Kings Ransom, Steve Cavern, said: “We were thrilled to have Johnny Vaughan and the guys from Ocean Colour Scene come down to the pub. We’ve been planning it for some time and it’s been extremely difficult to keep it quiet for so long!

“Their performance was absolutely fantastic, and continues a summer of live music events as we search for the next big thing with our Live at your Local competition. There’s £5k up for grabs for the winning act, so we’re expecting to see some incredible talent on the stage over the next couple of weeks.”

The live broadcast and gig was part of Greene King’s summer-long partnership with Radio X. The collaboration has already seen the release of an exclusive new ale, Amplified, which is available in more than 700 pubs across the UK, and will soon see a music pub quiz broadcast live on air on Thursday, July 27.
