Northern Monk Brew Co has closed its latest crowdfunding campaign having raised the astonishing total of £1.5m.
Owner Russ Bisset had originally intended to try to raise £500,000, giving away a 4.76% equity stake in the company.
But such was the popularity of the offer that three times that amount was raised, between 2,162 investors.
The original plan was to fund increased capacity and a new packaging line, but with the extra investment the brewery is now looking at further taprooms and the possibility of opening a London brewpub.
