Importer and distributor, Love Drinks, has strengthened its craft beer portfolio with a trio of brews from Iceland’s acclaimed Einstök brewery.

Einstok Wee HeavyJoining the brewery’s award-winning Icelandic White Ale and Pale Ale, the new trio comprises a Toasted Porter, a Doppelbock Winter Ale and a Wee Heavy — a scotch ale made with birch-smoked barley.

Based just 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle in the fishing port of Akureyri, the Einstök brewery offers unique provenance, positioning and innovation. It utilises what is said to be the world’s purest water.

Under the watchful eye of head brewer Baldur Karason — the first Icelander in 50 years to train in brewing at Heriot Watt University, in Edinburgh — the brewery has been dominating market share in its homeland and is available in another 22 countries. The brews now account for some 80% of Iceland’s beer exports.

The Einstök beers are exclusively imported by Love Drinks, whose marketing manager, Ellie Jones, said: “For a country with a population approximately the same size as Bradford, Iceland has built a reputation for punching well above its weight.

“Think Vikings, renewable energy, a football team who spectacularly dumped England out of the Euros in 2016, and the Einstök brewery, who have been creating waves in the global beer market and conquering tastebuds since 2010.

“In true Viking fashion, the Einstök beers have made a big impression since landing in the UK, so we’re delighted to extend the range with these three sensory-rich craft beers and expect them to see strong interest from the UK’s adventurous and discerning beer drinkers.”
