Naked Ladies, an award-winning golden ale from Twickenham Fine Ales, is now available in Majestic Wine stores across the UK after being voted number one in a taste test of 400 beers.

Twickenham Naked LadiesThe London-based craft brewery took inspiration for the beer from the stunning water nymph statues in Twickenham’s York House Gardens, locally known as the Twickenham Naked Ladies.

The beer, brewed with Celeia, Chinook and Magnum hops, has spicy and peppery notes that perfectly complement its elegant malt base and is 4.4% ABV.

Twickenham, which has been brewing since 2004, is London’s oldest operational microbrewery. With the creation of beers such as Naked Ladies and the rugby fans’ favourite, Grandstand, Twickenham has been at the forefront of the resurgence of London’s microbreweries and was an early adopter of American hops. It now uses different varieties of hops from all over the world, including England, Germany, Slovenia, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Naked Ladies was one of 400 beers sampled by customers during Majestic’s Oktoberfest last autumn. The customers’ votes led to eight beers going forward to the group’s beer team composed of 200 volunteer tasters, who crowned the Twickenham ale number one.
