Visitors to the Great British Beer Festival will have the chance to share a beer with Alan Hinkes OBE, the renowned mountaineer, on Friday, August 11.

Alan is the only Briton to have scaled all 14 of the world’s highest mountains, and he has contributed to CAMRA’s latest title, Wild Pub Walks. He will join author Daniel Neilson at Olympia, in London, to speak to festival-goers about his mountaineering adventures and to sign copies of the book.

Alan said: “It is a tradition among most hillwalkers and climbers to have a refreshing pint or two in the pub at the end of a strenuous day in the hills — some well-earned beer to celebrate a grand day out.

“Daniel and I share a passion for good beer, especially cask-conditioned ale, which is so much a part of the British pub’s unique appeal. I look forward to attending the iconic 40th anniversary of the Great British Beer Festival this year — one of the best beer events in the world!”

Festival organiser, Ian Hill, said: “We are honoured to have Alan Hinkes attending the festival this year and look forward to welcoming him with some of the finest beers in the country. Make sure to visit our membership stand on Friday for your chance to speak with Alan in person.”
