Jekyll & Hyde — a beer which is the result of some combined work between Fuller’s brewing manager Georgina Young and Chiswick residents David and Penny Barltrop — is being tasted for the first time this evening (Wednesday).

Fuller's Jekyll & HydeDavid and Penny have grown their own hops in their garden to create this new brew. The hops were picked in September and were then dried in Fuller’s hop store.

Local pubs The Mawson Arms, on the Fuller’s Brewery site, and The Cross Keys in nearby Hammersmith, will each receive one firkin (72 pints) of Jekyll & Hyde to serve alongside their other Fuller’s ales. Priced at £3.50 all proceeds will go to Shooting Star Chase.

The beer is described as having a distinctive malty base and a rich balance of well-developed hop flavours with a tawny colour. The local hops make the brew especially refreshing with noticeable bitter aftertastes.

Jekyll & Hyde’s first pint will be drawn at 5pm today at The Mawson Arms.
