Harry Rush (pictured), representing the Admiral’s Arm micropub in Queenborough, Kent, has been named national board games champion 2017.

He triumphed in a hard-fought final at the One Inn the Wood micropub, in Petts Wood, staged in association with sponsor, Pork Farms, and the Micropub Association.

Harry, said: “To be named national board games champion of 2017, it’s like a dream come true! I’ve had a great time getting here, playing the heats with my friends and practising all the way to becoming a finalist.

“Being at One Inn The Wood has been brilliant. You couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere, and the players brought some brilliant skills to the table, so it’s great to walk away with the win.”

Michael Holton, brand marketing manager at Pork Farms, said: “The atmosphere of today’s event has just been fantastic — a huge well done to our new national board games champion, Harry Rush, who brought some incredible gaming skills to the table. The camaraderie and support from players, friends and family has been superb. All games were battled fairly and with some great tactics!

“As a company, we really want to celebrate the best of British and bring people and communities together. What better way than some friendly competition over the nation’s favourite board games. The championship has been a huge success for the second year running, proving to be a real highlight of the spring and summer calendar.”
