Pub in the Park — the food and drink festival headed up by two Michelin-starred chef, TV presenter and Britain’s best-known publican, Tom Kerridge — is to have a bespoke beer brewed especially for festival-goers.

Hops in the Park, a 4.2% ABV dry hop lager will be unveiled at the first Pub in the Park festival from May 17 to 20 at Marlow’s Higginson Park. Greene King, the official brewery partner for the 2018 festivals, has created the beer.

Pale straw in colour and with a light citrus aroma, Hops in the Park is brewed using Ernest hops grown on farmland in Herefordshire. The Ernest hops bring a clean, crisp refreshing taste to the lager, and serve as a palate cleanser for festival-goers between food tastings. Generously dry hopped, the beer is described as moreish and delightfully quaffable.

In addition to Hops in the Park, Greene King will be serving a selection of its beers in cask and keg, including the popular East Coast IPA, Noble, Yardbird, Abbot Ale and Greene King IPA.

Festival prizes

Visitors could be in with a chance to win spot prizes from the Greene King stand throughout each of the festival events.

Clive Chesser managing director of Greene King Brewing and Brands, said: “Working closely with the Pub in the Park team, our brewer has created a deliciously dry-hopped lager, using rare Ernest hops, which is both refreshing and interesting to taste; ideal for the festival vibe.

“We are delighted to be serving Hops in the Park exclusively for these events, alongside a great mix of some of our favourite beers. From East Coast IPA, our fastest-growing beer, to the iconic Abbot Ale, festival visitors will have choice to suit every palate. The festivals are a showcase of the very best of British food and drink and we are proud that Hops in the Park is the official beer for the events.”

Greene King enjoys a long standing partnership with Tom Kerridge and is the official brewery supplier for his flagship Greene King leased pubs, the Hand and Flowers and Butcher’s Tap in Marlow.
