Green Jack Brewery

Green Jack Brewery’s barley wine, Ripper, has been named as CAMRA’s champion winter beer of Britain.

The beers in the final of the competition were judged at the Great British Beer Festival Winter, which is being staged in Norwich this week.

Festival organiser, Martin Ward, said: “Green Jack’s Ripper is a very worthy winner of one of CAMRA’s highest accolades. Our judges in Norwich were impressed with the quality in each category.

“Judging is carried out blind, so judges are unaware of the names and brewers they are judging. So when it was unveiled that a local brewer had won, we were all absolutely thrilled and delighted to present members of the Great Jack brewery with their award at the festival.”

This year’s runner up was Siren Craft Brew’s Broken Dream breakfast stout, while Black Gold, from Cairngorm Brewery, took home the bronze award.

The festival runs until Saturday (February 24).
