Recycling provider Free Collections is introducing a free glass waste collection service for pubs, cafés and restaurants in the UK, removing both administrative and financial burdens, which are a barrier for businesses who are reluctant or unable to recycle.

Spaces on the scheme are limited, with high demand anticipated, as there are more than 200,000 such venues in the UK.

Mark Hall, communications director at Free Collections, said:“We’ve made is very simple for pubs, cafés and restaurants to sign up — to find out if you’re eligible, it’s as simple as filling in a form and a representative will be in touch.

“For those just wanting a free glass collection rather than a full collection service, it’s first come, first served, but businesses will be offered a discounted rate until the free service is available.

“We find that increasing the rate of recycling in an area goes hand-in-hand with fostering a better, more mindful approach to how residents and businesses look at their town centres and communities, which can have a hugely positive knock-on effect.”
