Bermondsey-based Fourpure Brewing Co has won the innovation category at the UK Business Awards, being praised for its continual commitment to improve and adapt.

Adjudicators were particularly impressed with Fourpure’s strategy in 2017, when it embarked on a £2.5m investment to develop and expand the business, to meet growing demand, and place itself at the forefront of technological advancement within the UK beer industry.

It was through this investment that Fourpure sought to upgrade equipment in order to give greater control over production, packaging and quality, allowing the company to provide a guaranteed consistency of product.

These controls also helped the brewery drive innovation using new and interesting ingredients, sophisticated production techniques, and more versatile packaging options.

As well as improving its ability to brew more beer, Fourpure’s investment also meant it could focus on an improved hospitality offering, updating a cold, rudimental warehouse space with modern bathroom facilities, a comfortable bar area, and commercial heating throughout.

The brand experience on offer for Fourpure’s customers is now engaging and comfortable, allowing people to enjoy its beers in a contemporary, welcoming taproom setting.

Chief executive and co-founder of Fourpure, Dan Lowe, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have won gold at the highly competitive UK Business Awards. Innovation has played a very important role in the company’s growth over the past five years, and it’s great to have that recognised by such an esteemed list of UK business professionals.”
