Sharp’s Brewery has its third Blue Flag-supporting limited-release beer of 2017, Dawn Patrol, a California common-style brew.

Following Two Tides and Rye Rock earlier this year, Dawn Patrol is now available on tap in pubs, bars and restaurants until end of August. To celebrate, Sharp’s is running a campaign on Surfline, one of the world’s most accurate surf forecasting sites, featuring Newquay-based longboard surfer Adam Griffiths.

Sharp's Dawn PatrolAs with previous limited-release beers from Sharp’s, five pence from every pint of Dawn Patrol sold will be donated to the Blue Flag charity, which works to keep beaches safer and clean. Over the past two years, Sharp’s has donated £28,000 to the Blue Flag programme, which has funded applications for all the Blue Flag and Seaside Awards in Cornwall.

Dawn Patrol is a refreshing brew for the warm summer months. The beer has a firm bitterness that is balanced with malty, toasted caramel flavours. The combination of the Northern Brewer hops and higher fermentation temperature offers an aroma with mint and wood overtones.

James Nicholls, senior brand manager at Sharp’s Brewery, said: “This latest limited release is our first California Ccommon-style ale in our portfolio, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to experimenting with new tastes and styles. Our limited releases prove very popular with our pub and bar stockists and consumers alike, and we look forward to introducing this latest brew.

“With our base in Rock, North Cornwall, we are proud supporters of the Blue Flag initiative, a charity that is very close to our hearts, as the beaches and coastline are extremely important to us. I’m looking forward to a refreshing pint of post-surf Dawn Patrol, overlooking one of our award-winning Cornish beaches in the coming weeks.”

Allison Ogden-Newton, chief executive at Keep Britain Tidy, said: “We are thrilled to be receiving this support from Sharp’s Brewery, which is helping us to aid beaches and communities in Cornwall and around the country.

“As well as being the national sponsor of the Blue Flag award, which celebrates the country’s very best beaches, Sharp’s Brewery is going the extra mile to support beaches across Cornwall, working with our BeachCare project and the Army, creating the Sharp’s Beach Clean Battalion. We are delighted that together, Keep Britain Tidy and Sharp’s Brewery are making a real difference to the Cornish coast.”
