Currently distributing across the UK and exporting to 20 countries, Moor Beer is now a global player. Its ambitions are to continue this success as a truly independent and authentic brewer, and boost the craft beer movement in its home town of Bristol and beyond.

In order to support further growth, the brewery is looking for additional premises in both Bristol and London, where it hopes to expand the team in all areas of the business.

As part of ongoing expansion, Moor Beer has already invested heavily in new equipment to enhance production of its highly-rated, unfined Modern Real Ale brews.

Justin Hawke (pictured), Moor Beer’s owner, and vice-chairman of the brewers’ association, SIBA, said: “We’re so happy to be celebrating our tenth birthday, especially when you consider most people think craft beer is a new movement. News of our continuing growth coinciding with our anniversary is the icing on the cake.

“Over the past decade we set many of the trends by having the vision and quality to kick-start what was a flagging British beer market. We continue to remain desirable by a growing audience by staying true to our values and being fiercely independent.”

He added: “In these days of ‘crafty’ buyouts by the big brewers and the crowdfunding of questionable propositions — both of which compromise the integrity and choices a brewer can make — we are one of the very few who are truly independent. All shares are owned by my wife and I, who both work full time for the brewery and believe passionately in its future.

“The progress we’ve made in the last ten years is testament to an ever-vibrant beer scene and we are looking forward to what the next six months, year and even ten years brings for us.”

Moor Beer is the only brewery to be recognised by the Campaign for Real Ale as serving real ale in cans. Furthermore, its Old Freddy Walker was again awarded the Champion Winter Beer of Britain title at the National Winter Ales Festival this year.
