A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to support the cost of publishing a book on the craft beer movement.

Brand Crafted, by David Colley, with photography by Gavin Joynt, is due to be published this autumn. It will be limited to 1,500 copies, with 204 pages, measuring 200mm by 270mm, and perfect bound in full colour.

The book will have three sections:

The book has 3 sections:

Culture: exploring the spirit of passionate entrepreneurial talent, collaboration, organic growth, and co-operation over competition.

Community: examining the rise in tap rooms, bottle shops, beer festivals, and online beer retail that has created community and closer links between breweries and their customers.

Creativity: documenting how craft beer has inspired an explosion of diverse and expressive design. Cans and bottles have become canvases for illustrators and designers to showcase their work, create collectable and shareable products, and build identity and personality for craft beer brands.

In their crowdfunding pitch, the author and photographer say: “This is the first book to explore the brand culture, community and creativity of the UK craft beer movement. This is not a book about brewing techniques, beer styles, or tasting notes. There are plenty of fantastic books out there exploring those aspects and the history of craft beer.

“We have taken a fresh approach, bringing together perspectives and ideas from breweries, designers, illustrators, bottle shop owners, bloggers, journalists, and regular beer lovers, to discover what makes craft beer such a dynamic and exciting industry and culture.

“Featuring original interviews with breweries including Wild, Wylam, Abbeydale, Thornbridge, Vocation, Verdant, Marble, Magic Rock and more.
