Liverpool labour leader beer

Drinkers at a Merseyside pub are enjoying a choice of two pints while debating their choice for leader of the Labour Party.

Liverpool labour leader beerThe Republic of Liverpool Beer Company (ROLBC) has brewed two limited-edition ales, Corbyn’s Cask and Citizen Smith IPA, to mark the leadership contest, the result of which will be announced this weekend at the party’s conference, taking place in the city.

On the same day as the winner is revealed, the brewer will unveil the name of its first rebel beer since the brand was launched by Liverpool entrepreneur Tony Rothwell.

Set up in response to Brexit and embracing Liverpool’s desire to remain distinct from the views and aims of London’s political elite, ROLBC aims to “bottle Liverpool’s rebellious spirit”.
