Charles Wells is to donate 10p from every pint of its latest Wandering Brewer small-batch beer collaboration with Tring Brewery Co, Roamer Special Red Ale, to its nominated charity, Prostate Cancer UK.

One in eight men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. The new initiative aims to help drive awareness of the disease and help fund the charity’s ground-breaking research. The beer is available now at Charles Wells pubs across the UK.

Ian Jones, head brewer behind the Wandering Brewer project at Charles Wells, said: “I’m hopeful that the Roamer Special Red Ale will help raise awareness of prostate cancer and encourage conversations about the disease in Charles Wells’ pubs. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to raise some funds for Charles Wells’ charity partner, Prostate Cancer UK.”

‘Great initiative’

Gabriella Bailey, interim director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “I want to give a huge thank you to Charles Wells for its continued support for Prostate Cancer UK. The Wandering Brewer project is a great initiative that will raise vital funds for research into better diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support for men and their families.

“One man dies of prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the UK. This is a shocking statistic. Not only will the Wandering Brewer project raise funds, but it will also get more people having conversations about prostate cancer and raise vital awareness of the disease, too. The fantastic support from Charles Wells is helping us to push forward with our goal to stop prostate cancer being a killer and for this we are incredibly grateful.”

Charles Wells launched its Wandering Brewer project in 2017 to mark its journey leading up to the launch of its new brewhouse, set to open next year. Each month Charles Wells reveals a new limited-edition beer, created in partnership with top breweries across the UK, which is sold across its pub estate. Beer lovers can vote for their favourite tipple via the Wandering Brewer website for an opportunity to see the beer be brewed at the new premises next year.
