Wainwright bottleGolden beer Wainwright, now made by Marston’s, has won a bronze award at this year’s International Beer Challenge.

The medal came in the golden ale category of the competition, which features beers submitted from all over the world.

Awards followed blind tasting by a panel of 60 judges on everything from design and packaging to appearance, taste and aroma.

Judges noted Wainwright’s lightly hopped aroma and exceptional refreshing taste. The 4.1% ABV brew has a unique combination of hops and 100% Maris Otter malt, providing a subtle sweet undertone balanced against a delicate citrus.

Kirsty Polmeer, brand manager for Wainwright, said: “This is an amazing win for Wainwright. We know how much our consumers enjoy the beer, so to get industry recognition as well is the icing on the cake.

“The beer was up against some of the best beers in the market so is a real credit to the brewers and the team — a real success story for them!”
