XT Brewing Company

A new brewery for autumn 2011, the brainchild of former IT consultant Russ Taylor and Gareth Xifaras, a former PricewaterhouseCooper business consultant. A 15-barrel brewplant was custom made by Malrex in Burton-upon-Trent.

“The beers will be to our own recipes which we have been working on over the last couple of years,” said Russ. “The beers will be numbered such that One is a very pale blonde beer up to Nine which is a hefty dark stout. There will be specials outside the range in due course. I lived in the US for a few years and have been influenced by some of the microbrewers over there, so expect a few slightly different ales in the range.”

XT also produces one-off beers under the Animal Brewing brand.

    Just had one of your ales/beer up North! XT53 my wife said what a nice pint!! so thats good enough for me!! at The Black Bear Whitchurch Shrops!also on from Fri.XT8/XT4 will be trying them!

Tennent's has launched Black T, a 4.7% ABV premium lager using high-quality, mostly home-grown ingredients. Following teaser activity over the last few days, including secret deliveries of all black, unbranded bottles to social media users and mysterious messaging outside the brewery, Black T will now be available in Tesco and Sainsburys from this weekend • Casks of Colonial Mischief, a 4.1% ABV American brown ale hopped with Simcoe, Chinook, Galaxy and Cascade, are rolling out of Hardknott Brewery • Gyle 59 has Green Hop Wheat Beer now available in bottles through its online shop • London Fields Brewery is to launch seasonal, Halloween-themed beers this week. Pumpkin Ale (6% ABV) is a pumpkin pie scented amber ale, with low bitterness, a balanced malt backbone, hints of cinnamon, clove, all spice and nutmeg. There will also be a brew called Gyle 666, which is a spiced brown ale • Winter Sun, from Meantime Brewing Co, the floral yet spicy flavours of Hallertau and Hersbrucker European hops with fruity Liberty American hops to provide a thirst quenching, sweet and revitalising taste.
