Green's bottles

Green’s is bringing two new Belgian-style beers to market following the successful launch of its Ancient Grains range in 2016.

Naturally gluten free, there is a taste of the dark side with full-bodied Dubbel Ale and a richer, more complex delivery with aromatic Tripel Ale. Both beers have been shortlisted for the 2017 FreeFrom Food Awards’ gluten-free beer category.

Available from independent retailers nationwide and online from glutenfreebeers.co.uk, with an RRP of £3.50 for a 330ml bottle, the Belgian brews have been launched with the growing community of experimental beer connoisseurs in mind.

The latest additions to the Ancient Grains range of gluten-free beers boast all the attributes common among celebrated Belgian-style beers. Namely, brews re-fermented in the bottle to ensure an effervescence quality on pour, complex aromas and rich flavours.

Taking the Ancient Grain’s range to five, Green’s is renowned for its unique and complex brewing approach that does not use wheat or barley in the brewing process.

Both new products have been brewed with alternative ingredients — long-forgotten grains of buckwheat, millet, sorghum and brown rice husks — to deliver a naturally gluten-free ale option for consumers, whether purchase decisions are health- or lifestyle-based.

The Dubbel Ale hits the classic Belgian mark of creatively crafted beers with a hint of dark sugar and toffee flavour, with a traditional Belgian yeast aroma.

Strength, spice, and phenol aromas with rich flavour profiles are not normally associated with a light body, yet Green’s Tripel Ale is just that. There is an aromatic long finish.

David Ware, managing director at Green’s, said: “Our latest offering really brings something different to not just the free-from aisle, but the beer aisle too. Dubbel and Tripel Ales, brewed from ancient grains — with no barley included in the brewing process — are a great accomplishment that we’re really proud of.

“We’ve seen a growth in sales within the mainstream beer sector opting for free-from products. We feel our Dubbel and Tripel ales are well placed to cater for the growing thirst of this health-conscious audience.”
