In 2013, the transformation of the Black Horse pub in Barnet saw lots of refurbishment to the venue with the addition of brewery yard, housing plant purchased from Iceni Brewery in Norfolk. The plan is to brew specials aimed at the “traditional session market” and also to age beers in old port casks. Ingredients are being sourced through a Norfolk co-operative.

Established in 1882, Brains still retains links to its original founding family. The beers are supplied to pubs all over Wales, including 270 in Brains’ own estate. There was an older Brampton Brewery in Chesterfield in the 19th and 20th centuries (and there’s an excellent historical piece about it here), but this incarnation came about in 2007 when a group of real ale enthusiasts, led by head brewer, Chris Radford, decided to have a go at a brewing business. Burscough Brewing Co
Established in 2010, this brewery is found behind the Hop Vine pub in the centre of the village of Burscough. It was set by pub landlord Mike McCombe and former IT worker Andy Brocken, who has brewed at Wylam Brewery, having competed a BrewLab course.
