Manchester-based CBD Ultra and Cloud 9 Brewing have produced the UK’s first CBD Session IPA beer that is brewed with cannabis sativa extract.

Boasting a USP, this 4.3% craft beer is jam-packed with CBD, a health supplement derived from Cannabis that has become hugely popular in the UK, with people using it for a range of reasons from anxiety and depression to muscle and joint pain.

Drinkers of High Flyer won’t feel the high associated with Cannabis use as the beer doesn’t contain the psychoactive compound THC, but it does contain five essential cannabinoids and more than 40 terpenes which all work together synergistically to produce what is known as the ‘entourage effect’, a bodily state that magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the Cannabis plant’s individual components.

This unique tipple is the brainchild of UK-based CBD Ultra, a premium CBD company selling a range of high-strength, organic CBD products ranging from edible gummy bears to full spectrum rich hemp oils, to CBD teas. After experiencing unprecedented demand for CBD- based health supplements, the company formed Cloud 9 Brewing and partnered with acclaimed Bermondsey brewers to produce this innovative drink that is set to be a sell-out.

CBD Ultra and Cloud 9 Brewing managing director, Carl Boon, said: “We have been selling CBD products for the last year now and they have been so popular we have struggled to keep up with demand. It was only natural that the next step would be to produce a craft beer that encompassed all the flavours and aromas of a full session-strength IPA, but with the added benefits of CBD.

“We are very excited to be able to add this unique product to our range, and to offer this for distribution to bars and pubs across the country.”

Following the explosion of cannabis-infused drinks in America, the UK is set to be the next biggest market for these CBD tipples and, as such, there is already great interest in High Flyer.
