Paignton-based Bays Brewery has launched Devon Rock, a craft lager, which is fast becoming a favourite among drinkers in Torbay, being stocked in a number of local restaurants, bars and pubs.

Described as a crisp, flavoursome lager brewed for the 21st century, Devon Rock is created from specially selected hops and local malt.

Bays Devon Rock lagerBays Brewery director, Peter Salmon, said: “There’s been a real boom in craft lagers in recent times and we thought it was a good time to bring the trend to Torbay… Devon Rock is a refreshing alternative to the mainstream lagers usually found at the bar. Packed full of character, it’s the perfect choice for those seeking a local drink with a modern twist. The feedback so far has been incredible!”

The family-run brewery marked the official launch of its new craft lager at the Offshore Bar and Restaurant earlier this month, during the Offshore and Bays Beer Festival. The event was a huge success and attracted hundreds of visitors to Torquay harbourside to taste the new product and to listen to local bands.

Devon Rock can be found in several outlets throughout South Devon, including Pier Point, The Spinning Wheel, TJs Restaurant, The Boathouse, Simply Fish and the Breakwater Bistro.

It will also be available on tap at the upcoming Occombe Beer Festival, along with its award-winning beers Topsail, Gold and Devon Dumpling, as well as Bays Brewery’s popular Rhino Ale, produced in partnership with Paignton Zoo, which sees 10p of every bottle sold donated to rhino conservation.
