Siren Craft Brew has launched two new barrel-aged beers, ready for longer days and warmer nights.

Living up to its claim that all beer drinkers should be able to enjoy craft beer as wine drinkers enjoy the finest wines, Siren has released 11.2% Summer Encore and 9.2% Barrel Aged Shattered Dreams.

Siren Shattered DreamSummer Encore is an 11.2% Double IPA, aged in gin barrels, that’s all about Siren’s love of experimentation. Siren sourced rare gin barrels, occasionally used by producers to mature the spirit slightly and add a delicate sweet spiciness from the oak.

Siren filled the barrels with a dry-hopped double IPA and let the magic work. The botanicals are in full effect on Encore’s aroma, while the pale ale balances fruit with herbs before an unmistakeable dry gin finish.

Barrel Aged Shattered Dream is a 9.2% imperial breakfast stout aged in bourbon barrels  an imperial version of Siren’s breakfast stout, Broken Dream. Even more unctuous than the original, Siren amped up the flavours to deliver sweet biscuit, dark chocolate and deep roasted coffee notes. The barrel ageing process accentuates the delicate vanilla and offers distinct whiskey notes with a drying oak finish.

Siren’s Andy Nowlan said: “The future for Siren and barrel ageing is very exciting — we’ve got a whole floor of exciting stuff to release over the next few years. But for now, I urge anyone to try Summer Encore and Barrel Aged Shattered Dream, two completely different beers united by a process that offers complexity, excitement and some amazing flavours.”
