Hook Norton pub awards

Award winners celebrate at Towcester racecourse

The Angel, Burford, has been named pub of the year at the annual Hook Norton Brewery Estate Award, held at Towcester racecourse.

The Angel is an award-winning pub close to the centre of Burford, a thriving, historic market town, known as the gateway to the Cotswolds.

Built in 1652, this cosy pub with rooms is packed with original features. Old oak beams adorn the ceilings and in the winter months flickering log fires reflect on the gleaming copper and brass. In the summer, one can relax in the peaceful courtyard or in the walled garden.

The Angel has 2 AA Rosettes and has a well-deserved reputation for the quality of its food. In the candlelit restaurant, the menu reflects all that is good about local Cotswold produce, with an imaginative range of seasonal dishes, incorporating game from local estates, great fish dishes and stunning desserts.

It was a busy night for Terence and Gemma, from The Angel, as they also picked up awards for marketing and customer service pub of the year (winner), beer quality and cellar management (highly commended), food champion (highly commended) and letting accommodation (highly commended).
