Petrus aged sours

Petrus Sour Beers, three blonde-based, high-fermented, oak-aged ales with a distinctive sour taste, from Belgian Brewery de Brabandere, are now available to UK beer lovers through Ales By Mail.

Refreshingly sour Petrus Aged Pale, Flemish red brown Petrus Oud Bruin and dark fruit Petrus Aged Red are the only Belgian sours to use blonde beer as a base and are brewed using traditional techniques dating back to the 1800s.

Hotly tipped as the latest craft beer trend set to rival IPA by Fortune, The Brewers Association, Original Gravity,Thrillist and Bon Appetit, among other sources, sour beers are becoming increasingly popular with a host of forward-thinking international breweries adding sours to their portfolio.

Ales By Mail senior beer buyer, Glyn Roberts, said: “The demand for sour beers has risen dramatically over the past year. Modern beer drinkers love to experiment and sour’s complex, intriguing and ‘funky’ flavour is a refreshing alternative to IPA.

“With their bright acidity and vinous quality, sours also pair excellently with food and are challenging people’s perception of beer.”
